Energy study avoids climate change

The Age Editorial 9 April 2015 states: “It is extraordinary that in the 74 pages of the Abbott government’s white paper on the energy sector, the word “climate” appears only three times. … On the most critically sensitive issue for investors in Australia’s energy sector – namely, future policies for cutting emissions or promoting low- or zero-carbon sources of energy – the government is almost silent. … The Energy Supply Association of Australia says the flip-flopping in carbon-reduction strategies by federal and state governments of all stripes in recent years has caused gross uncertainty and “systemic and worsening dysfunction” in local energy markets. The association says it “has rendered the entire generation sector unbankable”.
